We are the Thames Valley Centre of the Morgan Sports Car Club; otherwise known as ThamesMog. The Centre was founded in November 1970 at the Bird In Hand, Knowl Hill near Maidenhead. The founders including Arthur Neal and Chris Rowe had been regulars at the London Centre and being local decided to create the Reading Centre. Over the years the Centre was renamed as Grogmog until members voted for a name change to Thames Valley Centre.
The Centre has always had a sense of adventure with all sorts of outings. These include trips to Isle of Wight, France, Isle of Man, Wales, Devon, Cornwall, Lake District to name just a few.
We have regular noggins at the Bell and Bottle on the first Thursday of the month at 20:00 or the Harte and Magpie on the third Sunday at 12:30 – further details on our website events page.
Our various outings include visits to National Garden societies, the National Trust properties, and walks in the countryside. We organise scenic runs, rides on steam trains, boating trips and much more.
The spirit of Morganeering, support for charity, usage of your Morgan, sense of competition, are all reflected in our trophies that are very important. Members can be awarded these at our annual general meeting.
A recent fiftieth anniversary trip to South Wales was greatly enjoyed by all that attended. Beautiful weather, great scenic runs, with sensational cars, good company, all in the best tradition of Morgan Centre events.
As things hopefully open up soon, we shall return to physical noggins, scenic runs, walks in the countryside, visits to National Trust properties, National Garden schemes and much more. We also hope to return to our weekends away, holidays with our Morgan Sports cars. As an active Centre, we aim to facilitate events for us to enjoy. You would be most welcome to join us.
